 Top Ten Most Intimidating Books

Oh, I have some intimidating books on my shelves. The reason why they intimidate me vary from their size, the plot is something I usually don't enjoy, I got it as a gift and I don't know if I'll like it, etc.

The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas
I bought it two years ago when I was in Prague and started it around Octoberlast year but I couldn't get into it and until then it is sitting on my booshelf with its beautiful spine and I am not sure if I will pick it up ever again.

The Distant Hours by Kate Morton
I got it in London in 2011 and I started it right away. Unfortunately I am a wuss when it comes to scary or creepy parts in books - I have a vivid imagination and when something gets creepy I tend to get nightmares. So I stopped and cannot bring myself to pick it up again which is annoying because I think about it quite often and wonder how it ends.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
I want to read this book so badly but I can't pick it up - don't ask me why.

the beautiful German cover

Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke
It's the last book in the Inkheart trilogy and I adore the first two books but when I'll read the third I will never ever experience reading this book for the first time and that saddens me.

anything by Charles Dickens

anything by Leo Tolstoy

The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
I read The Archived by Victoria earlier this year and adored it but I cannot get myself to reading the Near Witch because the blurb on the backcover sounds creepy.
So, I just got 7 books that intimidate me but even that's too many in my opinion and I now want to read at least one of those in 2013.

Which books intimidate you and why?

  2. The Discovery of Witches is a fun book. Kinda silly at times, but hard to put down. Near Witch is incredible.
