Day 15

Welcome to Blogmas!
Every day from December first til Christmas Eve I will post one Christmas related post, giving you gift ideas, tips, recipes, etc. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Review
Holiday Sparks
by Shannon Stacey

First sentence:
House sitting her childhood home seemed like a good idea until the microwave blew up and the lights went out.

Summary:
House-sitting for her parents seemed like a good idea, until the microwave blew up and the lights went out.

Now Chloe Burke thinks upgrading the electrical system of her childhood home while they are away would make the perfect Christmas gift. Fortunately, there's an electrician in town who can get the job done by the holidays.

Scott Quinn has wanted to get his hands on the Burkes' wiring for almost as long as he's wanted to get his hands on their daughter. Chloe didn't notice Scott back in high school, but she's noticing him now, and soon they're indulging in a little festive fun: no strings, no expectations. After all, Chloe plans to get out of this goldfish bowl of a town and back to her real life in Boston by New Year's.

But Chloe and Scott discover they enjoy each other's company just as much out of bed. Could their holiday fling turn out to be the real thing?

My opinion:
Shannon Stacey's book usually are a bit steamy – just to put that out there!

I really liked Holiday Sparks – 65 pages of Holiday goodness. Whenever you need a little pick me up during the sometimes hectic Christmas season, I would highly recommend reading Holiday Sparks. It is a short story but does not feel that way. I would love to have Shannon Stacey write a sequel, maybe even as a full novel, telling us how the story continues.

Chloe comes back to her hometown after living in the city of Boston for quite a while to watch her parents' house while they relax on a pre-holiday cruise. After blowing the fuse she calls the local electrician Scott and there's an instant spark that's so strong that you can feel it via your e-reading device.

And as the story progresses, Chloe and Scott's relationship does too.

The characters are portrayed really well and are all lovely, especially Chloe and Scott and Scott's German Shepard Kojak, who is so well described. He lies on Chloe's feet while she's working and keeps her company while Scott is doing stuff which is exactly as dogs behave. They always stay where they are able to see or hear everything and my dog Felix is lying next to me while I'm writing this.

So if you are looking for a quick but entertaining and heartwarming Christmas story, pick up Holiday Sparks – you will love it.
