... in books

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristie at The Story Siren and this week was a wonderful book week for me.

It was my birthday on Wednesday and I got books, a CD by a German singer called Annett Louisan and my Sesame Street Quilt that I mentioned here.

The books I got are the following:

Madonna, ein Blonder by Martin Zöllner
I love Italy and I love books that tell stories about Italy and/or are set there. This one is about a German who goes to Rome to live and work there. He is blonde and this makes him to someone special in La Bella Italia where most people have brown or black hair.

Dackelblick by Frauke Scheunemann
Another German book told by the dachshund Hercules who tries to set his owner Carolin up with a guy he likes. Help is provided by the tomcat Mr. Beck.

Shakespeare Undead by Lori Handeland
London 1616, black plague, Zombies, Shakespeare as a vampire and a girl who with the help of the bard tries to solve mysteries

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley
Flavia de Luce, a young girl, discovers a corpse in her cucumber patch and tries to solve the mysteries concerning her father, the dead man and their relationship

I also got a wonderful Italian cookbook with fabulous recipes.

During the last week I went book shopping with a friend as well and went home with all the Wolves of Mercy Falls books by Maggie Stiefvater (the UK covers).
