... in books

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristie from The Story Siren. This meme gives us the chance to show all our fellow booklovers what books we got during the week.

This week was a really good book week for me. As I told you last week I am currently not allowed buying any new books until Christmas. Fortunately I have ordered some books before sealing this book buying ban with my mum. So I received some amazing YA books this week.

I ordered Maureen Johnson’s “13 Little Blue Envelops” which I read this summer and loved. I hope I will receive the sequel “The Last Little Blue Envelope” next week – ordered it already. I love Maureen Johnson’s book. It is told in a wonderful way and tells the story of Ginny who receives letters from her deceased aunt who left the States for Europe years ago. Through the letters she convinces Ginny to travel through Europe on her aunt’s paths and experiences many adventures and her own love story in London.

My postman also brought Claire LaZebnik’s “Epic Fail” which was described as a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”. I started reading it right away and it was a fabulous book. Finished it today while waiting for my student to arrive. It really is a modern retelling of “Pride and Prejudice” and I found it fascinating how exactly the story follows Jane Austen’s storyline. But I will not tell you more now due to the fact that I am going to post a review about “Epic Fail” either today or tomorrow. My first review, by the way!

Hope to receive equally good books next week – still waiting for some – and that your mailbox contained wonderful books too.

By the way, check out Maureen Johnson's blog. She is a hilarious writer!

  1. I enjoyed Epic Fail as well! It was a really cute book and I really liked Derek and Elise! :)
I think the pages for Anna were deliberately done that way, if you open it up, it looks nice, with the pages all layered, but when it's closed it still looks off to me :( Hope you enjoy the book though! ;)
